Infrastructure Upgrades
Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, we moved VonGogo.net websites and most databases to a new Xen setup which we have full control of, at a new provider we've been looking forward to adopting all year, and a ton of new resources.
For most of the past year, our clients have enjoyed top-notch performance from, primarily, a single highly tuned Red Hat Enterprise Linux machine at ThePlanet. We left this server behind recently, and during a short stopgap, used what was originally a top performing virtualized provider. Unfortunately, about a week before our planned move, performance changed drastically, and we had some rough times.
I'm happy to say that as of, now, yesterday morning, Monday Dec 1, 2008, almost all of our customer websites have been moved to a new Virtualized infrastructure controlled entirely by us. Other services, such as mailing lists and developer tools, will be migrated according to the schedules of each customer over the coming week.
As with all server moves, this means a new IP address for your domain's default "A" record: 208.43.23.195. As always, your "www" records should point to "front.vongogo.net", and any other "CNAME" should stay the same, with each CNAME's services being moved together, in tandem. As I always remind, it is necessary to maintain an "A" record for the default, e.g. "vongogo.net", as using "CNAME" for the default record can interfere with e-mail and other services.
Thanks for choosing VonGogo.net, helping us to work this far together, and here's looking forward to a new year. Some of you with managed services may even find a VM under your tree this year!
Best from Justin, Dennis, and the rest of the VonGogo Networks Team, if there is any. ;)
